Oral Appliance Therapy

Apnea oral appliances are devices worn in the mouth while sleeping that reposition the lower jaw and tongue to help open the airway. Recognized and accepted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Pollina’s apnea oral appliance is an alternative treatment for non-compliant CPAP users, and those with mild to moderate sleep apnea, upper airway resistance, and other sleep-related disorders.

In general, the benefits of Oral Appliance Therapy (OAT) include:

  • Freedom of jaw movement
  • Improved nasal breathing
  • Increase in restful sleep
  • Decrease in daytime fatigue/increase in energy
  • Weight loss
  • Decrease in blood pressure

And provided the proper documentation is obtained from referring physicians/dental offices, insurance companies are willing to reimburse the costs associated with these FDA-approved appliances.
